Each icon is dedicated to a particular Saint or Holy Figure. Saint George, gloriously depicted here was a soldier in the Roman army of Cappadocian Greek descent and a member of the Praetorian Guard for Roman Emperor, Diocletian. He was sentenced to death for refusing to recant his Christian faith and became one of the most venerated Saints and martyrs.
