The Lladró story began back in 1953, when three brothers took a chance.
Juan, José and Vicente Lladró left their jobs in a local tile factory to build a small kiln in the courtyard of their family home, in Almácera, near Valencia, Spain. Their dream: to create porcelain; porcelain with a difference. Porcelain that speaks without words.
Today, the tiny Lladró workshop has expanded into a city – the City of Porcelain – where over two thousand Lladró employees work every day. Yet still, every Lladró piece is made and painted entirely by hand, with total commitment to quality, care…and, of course, art.
Every Lladró sculpture has its own story. Each piece speaks in its own, totally unique way. Maybe it’s the eyes, the colours, or the way it seems to say so much…without uttering even a single word. There’s something enchanting about Lladró. Which sculpture will draw you under its spell?
Nervous, excited, proud – there are a lot of different things going through your head when you first go on stage. But for this little performer, it all seems to come so naturally…
The beautiful First Performance figurine captures the excited moment when this little dancer comes off stage after her very first recital. All dressed up in a dainty frilled tutu and darling pink ballet shoes, she sits on a stool (possibly in the wings of the big theatre!) clutching a delicate posy of flowers from an admirer. You just know that for this little girl, this is the start of something special.
First Performance features:
Height: 15cm.
