While there are many fine porcelain potteries and studios around the
world, Lladró is the sort that defies expectations, creating beautiful
objects of desire with unwavering skill, care, and detail without any
need to move their facilities away from their homeland.
Handmade in Valencia, Spain since 1953, Lladró may not be one
of
the oldest names around, but they are by far among the most distinguished.
Every sculpture Lladró create has its own story, either told through
expression, colour, or the very ambience it creates when placed upon a
shelf.
The auspicious origins of the “lucky elephant” can be traced back to Hindu culture and the elephant-headed god Ganesha, the opener of the way and a god of luck. However, the belief that an elephant with its trunk raised as a symbol of good luck is generally an American belief, perhaps interlinked with the British suspicion that horseshoes must face upwards or luck will disappear. Whatever the case, this Lucky Elephant, crafted in glazed porcelain with a joyous expression on its face, is sure to bring good vibes all around.
Such a profound sculptural piece is bound to be passed along throughout generations – just as Lladró intended.
