Seventy-five years ago, four Australian military observers arrived in what is now Indonesia as members of a United Nations (UN) group supervising the ceasefire between nationalist and Netherlands colonial forces. Since then, tens of thousands of members of the Australian military, police and civilians have participated in some 70 peacekeeping missions and peace operations in more than 60 different countries.
The Royal Australian Mint commemorates 75 years of Australian Peacekeepers with this $2 Circulated Coin. The coin features two doves which are a recognised symbol of peace, along with a central blue circle.
