The 150th Anniversary of the Australian Overland Telegraph Line is celebrated with the release of the Royal Australian Mint’s 2022 $1 Uncirculated Coin. This Telegraph Line heralded a new frontier of communication, since it took two weeks for those in South Australia to communicate with Europe before the `line’ was engineered on 22nd August 1872. It meant Australia’s geographic isolation was over. Newspapers were now fresh, business orders timely and information was just a Morse Code click away.
